Spiked Necklace in Black & Silver (40cm)

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE COMMENCING WORK*
MATERIALS:
Size 9 beads from OLAF: 5 bags black (49), 2 bags silver (21)
A size 10 crewel needle is recommended.
Black thread
Silver clasp
ABBREVIATIONS:
B = Black
S = Silver
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Fasten onto one end of the clasp with 3 "button-hole" stitches. thread on 1S 1B.
2. (First loop): (i) 4S (a, b, c, d). Sew back through (a) taking the needle on through (b) and (c). Follow diagram to ensure that (a) sits parallel to the first 2 beads:
(ii) 3B1S4B sew up through (e)
(iii) 4B1S4B sew through (c) from right to left, taking needle on through (d) and (a).
3. (Second and following loops).
(i) 3B4S (a, b, c, d, as for 1st loop), sew back through (a) taking needle on through (b) and (c) as before.
(ii) 3B1S4B into (f) from previous loop.
(iii) 5B3S. Sew back up into 4th from needle to make a small point.
(iv) 4B1S4B into (e).
(v) 3B into (c) from right to left, taking needle on through (d) and (a).
Repeat steps (i) to (v) until there are 50 points (or desired length). Add 1B 1S and attach securely to other end of clasp. For extra strength, run thread back through the beads on the neck edge. Flatten work out on a flat surface to check tension before securing off.
